This strategy can very rarely fail because of Sandstorm and the 10% miss chance that comes with it.

Thanks in a very large part to the Xu-Fu website and its many, many contributors, I was able to complete my Family Familiar today. Woot, Nightmare Treant!! Here's the team that did it for me:
Scourged Whelpling (2/x/1), Fragment of Anger (1/x/1), and Blighted Squirrel (1/x/2). Start with Whelpling and Tail Lash until Book is dead. Bring in Blighted Squirel; use Stampede and Scratch until Spirit is dead. Continue with Stampede on Moth until Squirrel is dead. Bring in Anger and use QuickfireBolt until Moth is low enough for Soulrush to finish him off.
Again, thanks to everyone here for all the strategies, hints and helpful tweaks to teams.
Probably RNG affected a bit. Anubisath did great against first two pets, but then the Moth destroyed him - even after deflecting the first moth dust. Bring in Kun Lai Runt, and it promptly got facerolled by the moth, didn't even get an attack in.
Lil' Bad Wolf is a nice alternative if you don't have an idol. Soloed whole fight. 2/2/2
Lead off with the dodge and time it for anytime the big timer bomb is coming. He's faster than Breezy Book of the Spirit so Pounce does nice damage. Dodge as you come in on Moth, Pounce, then Counter. Any second or third pet is just in case.
Thanks for this.
B/B Breed Lil' Bad Wolf took on Breezy Book and Helpful Spirit by himself. He was faster than both. But not faster than Delicate Moth, and Delicate Moth will rip an Anubisath Idol a new one. So, use other pets as backup if you don't have an S/S Lil' bad Wolf.
Clearly based on RNG, I got destroyed the first time, and almost soloe'd everything with Idol on the second. Also, I took advice from people above, and blocked all curses of doom damage with Deflection - helps a lot!
Works great, in fact my Anubisath Idol solo'd the entire team. Never died. Only thing I did differently than what's above, is I used deflection on the second Curse of Doom. That made the difference, and I was able to solo
My Anubisath Idol soloed the entire team as well with near 500 health left at the end. I just used Deflection against every Curse of Doom and Moth Dust (that I could), filling with Sandstorm on cooldown and Crush. Easy!
First Try - Idol takes the first two, has a ton of health left, and gets stunned. So I switch to the Runt who get two-shot without getting in a hit. Switch back to the Flayer who gets stunned. Back to the Idol who makes some progress before getting stunned. The Flayer won with Blitz.
Just soloed all 3 with Anubisath, even getting stunned, although I'd prefer to use Deflection on the Dust attack (hard hitting+chance to put to sleep).
Bonkers can solo this fight easy using 1/2/2 :) Dodge to block all Curses of doom, Jab and Tornado punch purely for DPS, his passive heals him up fairly quick during the Arcane Explosion phase from Helpful Spirit. A little bad RNG can mess it up though.
